Supply chain refers to the entire process that is initiated the moment a customer places an order with the organization. His role extends to data entry and maintenance at regular intervals. He has to maintain a favorable liaison with the marketing team members. He must use his expertise in the refinement process and selection of appropriate targets to help the program managers. He must also have an analytical bent of mind, strong communication and presentation skills. He must have an in-depth knowledge of related systems, processes and sub-processes. He must also have the ability to make sound decisions under strict deadlines. Supply Chain Manager The role of a supply chain manager is to ensure a consistent analysis of the supply chain of the organization. He also liaisons with the business unit management. This is to help the organization to target the sourcing areas and thereby attain competitive advantage on the behalf of the organization. He must have a thorough knowledge of the prevalent commercial procedures. His tasks also include the development of specific areas for economical supply of materials. Procurement Manager The role of a procurement manager is to manage complex business sourcing initiatives strategically. His role may also extend to continuing procurement strategies, strategic sourcing and the development of investment management appraisal events. He is also responsible for heading the cross-functional teams through the process of implementation. He may also provide tools to the clients of the organization for the purpose of evaluation, management and coordination of existing and prospective supply vendors.
