The role of a supply chain improvement professional is to ensure that the responsiveness associated with customer schedule variances and supplier lead time is enhanced as a continuing trend. The tasks extend to maintenance of supplier delivery performance with a comparatively less inventory level. His role also extends to the effective and efficient implementation of lean supply base principles and policies.

In addition, he is expected to coordinate timely reviews of the business processes and sub-processes under strict deadlines.
